OK SO, 25% book tariffs are set to go live April 2. this is tricky for a number of reasons but the simplest is that most books are published & warehoused in the US, even those by Canadian authors, so this makes it infinitely more complicated than "Buy Canadian Authors" or slapping on a sticker

This is so ridiculous.

It's a shitty situation for Canadians, Americans, readers, and authors alike. We WILL get through it—it's a hell of a mess in the meantime.
Unfortunately returning to his natural color won't fix anything. We've been heading this way for a while. The only way out is through. And we will get through it! I truly believe things'll be better than ever.
4901.99.00 (this is the tariff number for books that aren't pamphlets or encyclopedias)
4903.00.00 (and this is for childrens' picture/coloring books)
First and foremost, though, all these tariffs are an attempt to isolate the US, and it's working. Canadians and other countries are understandably angry and boycotting (as they should).
We WILL get through this, together, creatively. 📖🤍
maybe it's an American author, boo! but their book is already here in Canada, great! it's regular price and so that is actually good for us!
