People probably know this, but if you have a UK library card, you can use the Libby app to borrow ebooks and audio books for free, without physically going to the library. ππ§

Depends where you live. Here, it's Borrowbox, not Libby. I have yet to figure out how to get BB books to my Kobo so I only use it for audiobooks. The selection is πΆβπ«οΈ. Plenty of stuff popular with demographics other than mine, but not much of what I myself want. Wish our library system was national!
The system itself isn't national, but most libraries allow you to join as long if you live anywhere in the UK, not just locally. For most you do need to physically visit once to pick up your card, but after that you can borrow online. A handful used to let you join online (not sure if still true).
I hear you. Personally, I don't know a more reliable cheering method than Wodehouse on audio; has yet to fail me. And you have a very beautiful editor-in-chief to listen with. xx
Put it into my veins. Been a shitty week emotionally. Still in the centre of a tornado thatβs whipped me up and has yet to put me back on the ground. Heβs pure love in a fur coat. Luck to have him. xx π
That sounds pretty horrible. You very much deserve all the cat cuddles you can get and a dose of laughing at aristocratic twerps. You're more than halfway through this shitty week and it too will pass. xx
You can also join lots of other libraries to increase your choice. Most authorities only require you to live anywhere in the UK, not just locally. You do usually need to visit at least once, so any time I was visiting anywhere, I always popped in to their library to sign up.
Yes, but it seems one needs a local address for most libraries to give an account, though if people know of libraries that don't require this, I would love to join a few more!
We've only got Borrowbox and a cut down version at that. On the plus side, it prompted me to return to using the main city library in person which has been great fun.
