Hydrangea addict here. The dining room has hydrangea art in the walls and two vases of dried blooms. Plus one silk/fake one. I brought in a few inflorescences just prior to a frosty night then photoshopped their portrait:
Spotted some lovely deep heathery pink ones yesterday at the local hospital. And this is Zone 7a /6b. There's a "tree" form hydrangea in my backyard, ?vanilla strawberry variety (moved here 2 yrs ago so I sorta inherited these) that starts white then pink but now all brown/dry. Gorgeous all summer.
Mine only barely bloom each year before winter hits and then they go dormant. Thinking maybe I should transplant into an indoor pot for a few seasons and then try again outside? Really love these gorgeous plants.
Mine are just getting going. I'M in opposite time zone however. Love them so much. My kids bought me 2 and 2 pots for my birthday end of October which I potted up and already one is exceptional
Hi Purl from MI. Judy here in WI. I finally found you on here. You haven't changed a bit. π How is life in MI? Do you have snow? We had 2" of wet slush Tuesday. It's gone. Our lakes are still open. Still reaching the 40s during the day. FB please? π₯°
Beautiful. I love Hydrangeas! Also, you are only the 2nd person Iβve ever known of who spells her name Purl. My grandmother also spelled her name the same way!
I still had hydrangeas until Halloween and Zinnias up until this week. We're out of town, but I'm guessing the snow we had on Thursday put an end to Chicago's longest growing season. π
