This is bad. This is very, very bad. It is bad in pretty much every way it is possible for something to be bad. https://edition.cnn.com/2024/12/02/europe/french-no-confidence-vote-barnier-intl/index.html?Date=20241202&Profile=cnnbrk&utm_content=1733156392&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

As a reminder, macron was ready to appoint Bardella, head of the National Rally, as prime minister.
This is how consensus politics works, and a fall of the government is part of that.
No big problem, just the mechanics of democracy at work.
The Far Right brings down the government.
What could possibly go wrong?
Two of the three power centers need to come together and form a government.
If not there is an impasse. In Belgium that took 2 years.
Not ideal, but also no big problem.
The presidential elections will be held in 2027.

Le Pen profits from this.
Does NOT need this right now ! 😳
Putin is fiddling all over Europe, Africa and middle east with China happily observing the degradation of Europe and US.

But, in doing this, they seem more intent on revenge than demonstrating that they accept the potentially catastrophic consequences of their gambit.
It's just absolutely crazy for Barnier to do 49.3. He pointed a gun at his own head.
What did he expect they would do? And Barnier trying to bypass parliament is not exactly a democratic move.
No surprise they are both being paid by Putin!
La France, réveillez vous!
Merde.
Don’t know why Macron chose him in particular in the end, but the centre and left blocks made it clear they would never support a RN candidate for PM.
same is going to happen to Sinn Fein in Ireland
Why do ppl never learn??
