I had salmonella I think, from undercooked eggs.

I have not eaten an egg not completely cooke through since.

It was absolutely awful, laying on the bathroom floor.

The most idiotic aspect of this - the agribusiness/food conglomerates must know this - is that it will kill US food exports. No one will want to buy food from a country they know is failing to inspect food products for safety.

They're not poor quality. That's not the point in any case. It's about inspection, especially for perishables, to ensure they're not contaminated in some way. Usually, they aren't, because food inspections. And you can't bully many to accept imports they don't want or that people won't buy.

Other countries have higher standards when it comes to certain food exports. Some don't like the hormones we add to meat products for instance

That's certainly true, especially when in comes to beef and other animal products. I'm Canadian. We avoid US beef for that very reason. Well, we now have other reasons, but that has been a primary one until now.
