Why would anyone, even white europeans who you would presume these motherfuckers don't want to harass, ever want to come here as a tourist ever again? The risk isn't worth it.

CBP is detaining german tourist for over 1 mo because they accused her of intending to tattoo for $$ while in US. In jailing her to deport, they held her in solitary for 9 days, also kept her from her return flight Feb 15. She's still jailed.

For hours.
Why on earth would I go now?
I've been held up for stuff like that too.
I was being paid by Canadians, in Canadian money, from a Canadian bank (the job wasn't available to Americans) and they still held us at the border for hours.
That was 2003 I can't imagine it's better now.
Of course, the yam might be fine with that if he thinks it'd hurt California. sigh.
US immigration is horrible. Saying this as someone who grew up in West-Berlin and had to deal with East-German border patrols who were brutal. US was worse.
I have doubted it for long time. I never took the risk to visit it, in spite of its theoretical interest.
Then climate change awareness added nails to the travel coffin.

US immigration procedure has always been unpleasant (especially at JFK and on the southern border) but now - no way.
I can hold a grudge
a summer roadtrip into Montana and Wyoming that won't happen now
will the US economy collapse because we don't buy some gas and snacks and a few hotel rooms? no, but that's really not the point
*could change if new, better policies pass ofc, but right now, absolutely not.
Not sure how it's within the visa waiver program, but not something I would recommend anyone under the LGBTQA+ umbrella to test out.
