Ultimately I think it is damaged males desperately wanting to be "winners".
Whether it's the mid life male wearing the latest Man City football shirt or a late teen worshipping Tate and Farage because they voice the thoughts that teen has.

However, there is proof (polling) that women prefer male leaders (40% to 27%). Why is that?
So I don't buy into this 'men are internally weak so they need leadership' argument. Tbh, it seems to glisten with a good sheen of misandry.

My experience is that the blinkered following of leaders and rhetoric can’t be grouped by gender. It’s a behavioural and psychological state.
