But…. The nuns bustling round doing the cooking and cleaning etc . All that male dressing up and strutting about. Time for a breath of air on the Catholic Church. Women please!
Saw it yesterday and enjoyed it immensely. Multiple scenes of Ralph Fiennes 'thinking' - what an actor! The ending was too equivocal though; much less so in the book.
Watched it my parents over Christmas and Brian F O'Byrne plays O'Malley who we know as from where my dad grew up. So everytime he appeared, they insisted on saying - there's Brian. Still a great film.
Book was a bit predictable and meh. On the strength of that, I haven’t bothered with the film.
I can heartily recommend Robert Harris’ latest novel, PRECIPICE, a story about intelligence leaks at the of the Asquith government on the outbreak of World War One.

Only wish I'd have gone with a committed Catholic.
Oh, and as a double bill with "Dogma"!
And all those ridiculous costumes..
