Trump administration just ordered a blackout on public communications by agencies across government, multiple officials tell me.

Here's a memo from HHS I obtained describing the comms blackout.

A good reason to setup more listservs for everything. It prob is a public service to email people who would like it information about like how to contact your organization, or when it is open, or what you do etc etc. We know that filling a space with a ton of crappy information is a strategy

Threads is heavily censoring users. Any of my posts that have references to the executive orders that are critical that cite specifics have been removed for me. Perhaps because they come from whistleblowers? It shouldn’t matter, correct?

Follow up - hmm, interesting provisions in the 2023 Access to Congressionally Mandated Reports Act (part of the Defense Authorization Act). Don’t know a thing about it but sounds like congress has placed clear limits on agency heads’ ability to revise reports to congress

Executive has the authority to run the agencies. Trump will take that too far and he’ll probably get swatted back by the courts, but a temporary comms blackout doesn’t in itself violate any laws. Now, are they using the blackout as cover to violate laws? Maybe!
