I do hope democrats will get past it's concerns about not being like "Januayr 6" suspect of elections but accept more people don't trust elections on both sides and lets make restoring trust in voting to be as important as voting rights https://bsky.app/profile/jimoberst.bsky.social/post/3lkoz74opr22t
Laws don’t matter anymore. They don’t have any enforcement. Sure, you can make a ruling, a “judgement” on it. But who’s gonna enforce it? Nobody. The Marshalls and the Army report to the criminals.
Legal teams fighting Trump and Musk need to go big. Putting fingers in the dyke isn't going to stop the damn breaking. Go with criminal charges. Get inventive. They're doing end runs around the Constitution. Musk's team has illegally forced their way into agencies. Get them on defense in court.
Shouldn’t we lawyers be making Bar Association complaints against any attorneys for the current administration who promote conduct that violates the constitution starting with JD Vance?
Not to be a Conway fluffer, but I think he has credibility on this issue.
From what I understand, he had a heck of a good gig at his law firm. Life would have been a hell of a lot simpler for him if he had just gone along and kept his mouth shut.
Powerful statement👊🏾
“Trump is taking an enormous gamble by targeting some of the most powerful lawyers in the country first. With effectivecoordination, we could easily resist him. I will not watch the legal system collapse from my window office 4000 feet off the ground and stay silent out of fear.”
So tired of hearing 47 say, “Who are you with?” in front of reporters. He does it ALL the time now and keeps discrediting our free press. Journalists need to say, “I’m with the people, sir. Who are you with?” Turn the question on him! It’ll throw him off his game.
He’s successful because his supporters call anything he’s against fake news. Facts are fake news. Tough questions are fake news. Anything not pro maga is fake news. Fools.
True- but it all began with his statement in Jan. 2016: “The press is the enemy of the people.” So, he was the culprit. His supporters fan the fire. We must preserve a free press in order to preserve all our first amendment rights- truth can and will prevail if we demand it. Thanks for your post 💙
WH Press Corps ... The lack of unity, in the face of historic levels of corruption and censorship, has been extremely depressing. They are being used as a device for Trump's narrative framing now. 21st century doesn't need that. They need to stop that & do investigative reporting on him now, please.
"To date, Biglaw leadership has remained silent on these issues, likely for fear that their firms could be next".
Or George the Millionaires who run BigLaw are happy with Trump and don't want to stop him. #TaxCutsForTheRich
We put in tons of work to get through undergrad, law school, character & fitness, bar prep, summer clerking, job hunting - all of the flaming hoops - not to mention most of us have sizable student debt.
We need this profession to exist so we can get a return on our investment.
April 1st!! 2x congressional races in Florida and 1x Supreme Court seat in Wisconsin (that Musk is spending millions to influence) GO SUPPORT THE NON MAGA CANDIDATES! You don’t need to live there to support them and spread the word
But why? According to Schumer this is all business as usual. Nothing to see here. Democracy isn't crumbling while we gaze longingly towards the midterms and dream about a life where the same weak Democratic leadership has a very slim majority in the House and a weak minority leader in the Senate.
Seems to me that part of the problem is everyone is waiting to see who will take on and take down 47. I suppose they’re looking for some political advantage. Time for waiting is over. We don’t need a deliverer. We need unified resistance and noncompliance
I was reading your constitution and was comparing it to the real world. The only thing that is still valid is your right to carry weapons to kill each other.
Other than that, you can throw your constitution in the toilet.
The voters allowed a Nazi Party to control everything.
Congratulations!!!
Biglaw is part of the problem, folks. These firms have consistently been the tip of the spear for corporate America's dismantling of the federal government's power to regulate. They are a big part of the reason we are where we are now. The sooner we see that clearly, the better.
This is another group that mostly voted for the orange village idiot. Sorry but they are getting what they voted for. It's a mess but they will have to clean it up themselves.
Nice bit of work they squeezed in between writing the brief that says all regulation is unconstitutional and the letter telling DOJ it has to drop all FCPA charges against their multinational client on the basis of the executive order
it's good values. but it's also foresight. if there is no rule of law in this country, what they fuck are they gonna do for a living? i mean, they just spent like hundreds of thousands of dollars on an education in the rule of law.
All for nothing. Laws don’t matter anymore. We live and die by the feelings of one giant diaper baby with dementia. Might as well burn the Magna Carta while they’re at it.
It’s time, not tomorrow or yesterday. Today, everything has changed, subtly, yet flagrantly. One leg of Democracy’s triangle has crumbled. Ill-gotten men will challenge justice’s limits. America will not be able to enforce to the fullest extent of her law. Two legs must align or fall completely.
I was a founder at CompuLaw and co -ran it for 31 years. Everyone of the top 250 law firms (plus) were large clients. Had so much respect for these firms. We really need them to join together, from the left to right leaning, and defend their profession. For the country and the rule of law.
I would imagine that a lot of these spineless characters are former colleagues of yours. It's tough to give up that much money. That's why people shouldn't make that much money.

The damn Republican Party has rolled over for this disordered man. They've become MAGA lapdogs or scared trads. Cheneys & Kinzingers are hard to find.
What more proof or motivation do we need?

We now have statements of concern from SCOTUS, the ABA, the Federal Judges Association, and these associated.
Where are you state bars, big law firms, and law schools?
You choose.
