I was on a AC/DC concert in my teens, in the beginning of the 80. It was on a Wednesday, cos I could only hear ringing in my ears the school day after I had stood very near the stage on the left side, in front of the amplifiers under Angus Youngs guitar solo.. I was almost thrown out of school. :)
Yes, it was especially noticable just after the show when you walked outside. Instant awareness of ears ringing very loud, lol. I might have some hearing loss from all their concerts.
And yeah, I'm 57 and sure, I do not hear as well as I did...
Been to a Motorhead concert in Hammersmith London two years before Lemmy died and that was even louder.. Bleed out of your ears loud.. With Girl schools as warm up... Lemmy WAS really mister Rock'n'Roll..
Worst band of all time-Not one song has any meaning other than to bang your head against the wall. When I was a club DJ, I gleefully smashed their records. They need to go away for good.
π We might also try this: You choose whatever you believe to be the worst AC/DC album ... & I'll bring an album of *my* choice ... and we'll play them track for track and see who cracks first?
My choice would be "Philosophy of the World" by The Shaggs.
I get asked if Iβm going to see so-and-so now. I reply that I saw them for $5 at Winterland before they joined AARP. Not paying >$100 to see one original guy and fill-ins.
It certainly beats the village people!! I used to love them but now every time I hear YMCA I get ptsd flashbacks of that π€‘ doing a weird dance & people looking at each other with that uncomfortable lookβ¦.
This sound is now part of an ever growing list of important musical milestones. The fact that lots of these bands are still playing keeps this particular language alive β so other generations can expand their cultural literacy and hopefully keep passing such legacies along.
Only Bon Scott and Malcolm Young have passed from the band. Cliff Williams is basically retired from the band, and Phil Rudd has sold a lot of his gear to help his friend pay for cancer treatments.
Been wanting to see AC/DC since I was 14- Itβs taken me almost 50 yrs to get there!!
Got my tickets for April 30th @ Ford Field!! My most Favorite Rock Band EVERβ£οΈβ£οΈ
β₯οΈ!! Canβt wait!! I got asked to go when I was 16- my mom wouldnβt let me go- when I got my tickets told her I was going & she couldnβt stop me now lol!!
Am so Geeked!!
Is it a testament to my generationβs music as superior that so many bands stumble on? Never a fan but fun to watch. (Iβm amazed that after 60 years elements of the Dead are still truckinβ) And their sound has mellowed and matured, but Iβm grateful to have been there since 1971.
Cool beans. I've been on a mission to discover more music, and they're one I rather liked. Saw the chance to ask someone who experienced popular music down the Aussie way at the time, to see if the Wiki bore out: couldn't resist.
The 1st time I saw them was the Thunderstruck tour. They were recovering alcoholics at the time and barred the sale of alcohol for the entire night. I get it, but I was like, I'd better not hear "Have a Drink On Me, dammit."
I've seen them 8 times since 1977. Tonight's show at Allegiant Stadium Las Vegas absolutely the WORST sound engineering ever. However, got to spend the day with my daughter and not process Trump thoughts so it was a win. Any time with Sarah is refreshing. I'm blessed.
I had seen them at MSG during the 80's and was disappointed with the sound as well, somehow the sound check didn't resolve the non-existent Bass. Otherwise, it was a cool night out to see a show! ππ€
Someone in Vancouver drove through a Filipino Celebration killing people.

I've got a Bluesky thread going with a bunch of updates and articles if anyone is interested. There's a separate subreddit link with ongoing discussion as well.
I explained this to my 6th grader when we were getting the electric guitar heβs been saving up for. The guitar he liked apparently would work well for most kinds of music, but not heavy metal. Me: βWhat heavy metal do you want to play?β Him: βAC/DC?β Me: βThatβs hard rock.βπ€
We listened to them in high school, and 7 years later, I remember being shocked when my little brother and sis twins invited me to their high school party, and they were still listening to "my music."
That was 37 years ago suddenly.
There is so much great music appropriate for now. Hell's Bells, Highway to Hell. Just keep on rocking in the free world. You know, we've got a thousand points of light for the homeless man.
21st birthday, 1972, Chequers nightclub (now a massage parlor π ), Sydney, with Bon Scott as lead vocals. Who woulda thought theyβd still be rockinβ , minus Bon, 53 years later.
Seen this band in early 1975, @ the time they were just making a name for themselves. They appearanced instore @ Abel Music, Bunbury Western Australia.
Then a concert that night at the Southway Ballroom And yes Bon Scott drank straight from the bottle.
Later tours @ The Bussel Motor Hotel
I saw them when they had brown hair and could move and didnβt crapey skin. The originals not replacements. Not Bon Scott, but the band creators, Angus and Malcom. Of course I was 17 and didnβt have thinning skin and gray hair either π€
I don't know how to feel about this. One of my all-time favorites, with many instances of watching Angus Young pinwheel across the stage full tilt during the 80's, but this? It's almost Muzak-esque.
I saw them in 78 when they were playing small university gigs in the UK, with Bon Scott of course. They had a lot more energy then. Also caught them on their Back in Black and For those about to Rock tours with Johnston. 78 was best.

It's been a long time since my AC/DC youth in Australia. Real rock stars!
You get a pass though. You're what I wish a republican would have, a spine. Speak your mind but don't back down from your principles.
Go head to head with Johnson. You're qualified.
Rock on George. Keep rocking on! π€π½

I leave you to your Winger t-shirts.

They make AC/DC sound like Hall & Oates.
Ask yourself, what kind of world are we leaving for Keith Richards?

Itβs the βbetter to remember them as they were?β

Great band, still listening to them today.
I came across their music, and history shows they seemed to hit well in UK & Aus, but never charted well in America.
I'm mystified, because they played a muscular, hard-rocking, version of glam that I would've expected πΊπΈ to eat up!!
Thanks! π
But it *is* satisfying to play!

2.) Itβs still the best version of rock.
