As a Canadian, it's heartbreaking to see so many Americans eagerly leaping into the gnashing jaws of fascism that their grandfathers fought & died to keep them safe from.
Canada's border policy hasn't been great for "casual" immigration, by which…
…I mean any migrants on a "running-to" rather than "running-from" basis: professionals, retirees, nature lovers.

The "standard" immigration policies definitely require folks…
…to come from SOME privilege. But we make broad exceptions for refugees seeking asylum with a "well-founded fear of persecution."
That used to mean resettled Yazidis, survivors of Daesh, Amharas from Ethiopia…but Trump's plans for migrants AND over half of US citizens (🚺🏳️⚧️🕌) meet that threshold.
