I think once people stop waiting for one person or one big galvanizing moment to "save us" and realize this is gonna take a lot of work from a lot of people for a long time we will maybe get somewhere.

I do too. Americans in general are stubborn and impatient, which works against anyone pushing us around. Even if we are slow to catch on. I think you got this one right on.
While I think I knew that this was the work that my children would carry on, I didn’t imagine that I’d be enlisting them before they finished middle school.
But also, the beauty of a good moment of political theatre is that one person can really shake up a lot of other people to feel like there are small ways to exert control!
WE are the ones who will save us!! Contact your local Democrat office, your state reps and ask what you can do to help save our democracy!! Every and any little thing you do helps!!
That's absolutely what I've been trying to get my emotions to accept this week. In my head I have started saying, "This is where we are now," but I can tell that emotionally I'm still waiting for the One Big Thing that turns it back.
Hot take, but I think the replacement of religious narratives with mass entertainment ones has had some pretty deleterious effects on politics. People demand instant gratification and resolution in situations that call for faith and patience.
I mean, maybe, but also Americans are some of the most impatient people on the planet.
It's considered rude in LATAM to bring a chk to a table w/o being asked. Americans want to order, eat and have the check paid in under 1½ hrs or less. They visit other countries and get big mad when it's longer.
I’ve been of the mindset that we will rebuild. This isn’t forever. It might be longer than we want but it isn’t forever. Weird enough, we will be the ones looking to make America great again… we need a new slogan.
It’s the only way we survive this test. We can do it, It’s not looking like we’re being given a choice, The time for action is closer than anyone sane wants🙏🏼🇺🇸⚖️☮️If required I believe we will come together in mass, arrest, try, if convicted punish. Exercise our Constitutional duty/obligation🇺🇸⚖️ Fix it‼️
As much as I wish it wouldn't, it will definitely be decades. The right has been building this since Reagan. It will take that much time or more to dismantle it. The people of this country, including me, need to train for a long haul fight.
you're right. bc this movement behind trump (the heritage foundation) is a christofascist movement that got its legs during reagan as the "moral majority"
now they're the ones behind nearly all of the EO's and moving us closer and closer to worse than Taliban rule.
I mean…if Americans figured that out like 40 years ago, we wouldn’t be an oligarchy. It’s been a slow process and people still won’t come together long enough to do something. Neither side likes billionaires..but good luck convincing republican voters to side with their class
Every great movement can be traced back to one individual who stood up and spoke out. THIS can be that moment. History books will remember this moment. He is helping us all wake up. One voice can become many, which can collect and become ONE! #KeepGoingCory #resist
Time is shorter than you think, you must contact your politicians up and down the ticket, let them know how you feel, save America and the free world. Your time is now, waiting just supports Trump and his administration. Today! tomorrow and every day!🇺🇸
I'm not the one for this message. Social movements that make lasting change for generations take years, if not decades. And they're about WAY more than simply just contacting politicians.
Yes!!! Especially seeing that he's not doing it by himself, although he took the lead. And continues to as I type this. We all need to do our part to resist the regime and help each other.
Literally. I’m so tired of people discrediting resistance and protests by saying “it’s not gonna change anything.” Like what exactly do they expect to happen? People have been fighting FOR CENTURIES. The fight will be never ending, and we cannot quit or give up.
In fact, we actually really DON'T want a big galvanizing movement. It's sort of a dream setup for fascist leaders to have that because they can squash the resistance in a single blow. We really really do not want that. We want pockets everywhere.
The speech was fine and all and it's good that the racist shitbag who had that record doesn't have it, but even if you argue that it rallied everyone into a big group - that's actually a really BAD thing when fighting fascists.
I think people are waiting to be inspired, and they perceive it as starting with one act, but the reality is that the moment has been building and the act is the small rock that starts the avalanche.
My union has put out calls to action from members - with no experience in organising - to start organising in our communities. It changed my mindset about this whole thing. The whole ‘saviour will rise’ is BS. It’s non stop collective action on small things, big things, everyone playing their part.

It was stopped by thousands and thousands of ordinary people who did extraordinary things.
