Any plans for this experience to be improved? I'm logged in to https://aus.social but I can't like this post on https://mastodon.social without signing up or searching for it from within the https://aus.social instance. Or am I missing something? Why can't it just know that I'm logged into https://aus.social?

Because that’s how truly decentralized social networks operate and yeah, it totally sucks. Hopefully they find a way around that.

But yeah, if you log in, it should show you the post in the context of your server, and then you can like or comment. Login screens can be jarring. I complain about Mastodon a lot, but I actually like it more than Bluesky in a lot of ways - but I'm also a colossal tech dork, so...

there are browser extensions that can help with this (Graze is one, I think) - but yes, this can be improved.
