I've been reading They Thought They Were Free and a lot of them seem to have complicated feelings. The rise of Hitler was the best time of their lives. They had hope and safety. Even after the war many were still fascists, many felt Hitler failed them but not the ideology.
But many also weren't moved by Hitler. When their boss was a party member, they joined the party to rise in the company, or just to keep their job. Some joined because they needed jobs or l because it was what their friends were doing. Many were 'not political' and didn't know what policies Hitler
was advocating for. They knew the current status quo was killing them, so anything else was a chance at something better. So when it all fell apart they felt like something was stolen. By the West, yes, but also by Hitler and his failures. Sadly, that's a lot of the right currently.
They don't know the policies Trump is enacting. They know there's something going on with Elon that's making the status quo shake in their boots. They know Trump is spitting in the face of the ivory tower assholes who write op eds about how stupid they are and how they deserve their suffering.

I'm contemplating how to help with door to door voter turnout efforts. I'm a longtime supporter of one left wing party but am fully aware that *any* of our parties on the left is preferable to the right - and that split votes work in the right's favour.
My city is one that can do any of the above - elect MPs from either of 2 left wing parties but also split the left, such that the 1 right option wins. We *really* need to vote strategically this time around. Thankfully, that's not a new concept here, but it has never felt this important before.
