Barton Fink is a masterpiece. And Miller's Crossing, oft overlooked because it's in this awkward place between noir art film and a Dick Tracy cartoon is also amazing.

Hudsucker Proxy was my gateway drug to the Coens and favorite. Followed by Barton Fink, and Raising Arizona. Fargo is a masterpiece but it's too disturbing and bleak for me. Same with Blood Simple.
Red Harvest was a novel written by Dashiell Hammett (same author who wrote The Glass Key) and the books have similar themes. Red Harvest was the foundation for Yojimbo and Fistful of Dollars. Now that you bring it up, The Glass Key is more similar to Miller's Crossing.
Every time I shave I think of Jon Polito talking about shaving with cold water. One thing that always surprises me about Miller's Crossing is how violent-without-blood it is. Oh and how brilliant that "hat and leaves" shot is with that gorgeous music.
