After countless people posting photos for years of bearded reedlings in my local area, I finally caught up with the little humbugs….twice in one month! Different locations. Brief encounters on both occasions and not seen again, but I’m now happy they apparently do really exist 😂

The White-winged Black Tern at Hosehill Lake, Berkshire on 9th September. At a distance I thought it was flying like a Little Gull...then it landed and I thought it was a juv. Black Tern but I eventually got the ID right, with a little help from my friends. #ukbirding

Cycling the 30 km to Newbiggin to look for a Greater Sand Plover after a clear night (ideal for onward flight!) with no fresh news of it 😬, and searching on my own for an hour 😨, and finally, the relief, finding it's still there 🤩

24 May 2024 when this Honey-buzzard appeared over Pierowall, Westray during thick afternoon fog. It was chased all around the village trying to escape the pursuing gulls and crows. I preempted it coming into a stand of sycamores and got this image as it was mobbed by crows. #WestrayBirding
