In from Scotland, but we have some family who live there. We had a holiday drive up from San Diego via a few stop over at the beach. Marvellous place and we had a night in Yosemite also - and a visit to Hearst Castle.. top for me was picking up some Russian River beer - Pliny the Elder!
Planted a honeysuckle and a hummingbird/butterfly wildflower mix on my apartment patio some years ago and now I even see more butterflies outside my building in the neighborhood. Not to mention I'm pretty sure my little garden bids are pooping the wildflower's seeds all over the neighborhood.
I got to see this once in Big Sur, when I was a teen. Nobody at the campground except me and my friend, thousands of monarchs, and a group of hangliders, sailing off the bluffs. Magical
Yeah they have campgrounds that are fairly accessible at that beach with a giant rock whose name I forget right now. I thought about getting one during December but it's too freaking cold LOL
New found appreciation for butterfly photography. They are HARD to predict and keeping focus is brutal. After 2 days with them im putting down my camera(for butterflys) and waiting till next winter season to try and capture some good in flight shots.

Sadly, here in Orange County, our monarch counts have all been 0
