Liz Truss called solar farms a “blight on the landscape”, but researchers have found they are actually better for birds than farmland
Solar farms in East Anglia had greater bird diversity & bird abundance than nearby arable land, a study finds

"Our findings suggest that solar farms can benefit biodiversity in arable-dominated landscapes, especially when managed with biodiversity in mind."
Mais en général en France les champs de panneaux sont installés aux dépens de terres déjà à riche biodiversité (mais faible valeur foncière, d'où le ciblage) ET entretenus à grand renfort d'herbicides ou de tontes rases.
Why can’t the solar panels be placed & separated in ways that provide shade for livestock & allow grass to grow, whilst also making energy?
Is this not possible?
Then surround with traditional hedgerows to promote wildlife.
I think I favour the BNG but I can see an argument for grazing if it eases the project through
The intensification of agriculture has been bad for all those species dependant on grazing. Mowing doesn’t do the same thing. So why be against grazing?
