It’s a lot harder today to say that everyone is viewed the same under the law. The failures of those - at many levels - in the judicial system are primary reasons why.

I agree. There was that AG who gave weapons to drug cartels that got a border patrol agent killed. He should have stood trial for corruption and treason.
The Justice system was woefully unprepared for a conman like Trump. He’s been beating the system for his entire life. Looks like that will continue. Sucks.
A law degree in the U.S. is not worth the paper it’s printed on anymore. I told people 8 years ago that he wouldn’t be held accountable. People like you told us no one is above the law.
Can’t see what the hell they hope to gain from this. S/H held on and let Trump order HIS new DOJ to drop the cases. Now, Trumpworld is already claiming exoneration and that it was political all along. It wasn’t and he is certainly guilty.
It's very true. As of now. But we and many like us are organizing for a full social, cultural, and political takeover of this country by progressives and together we can reshape America into a 21st century country with contemporary ideals it actually achieves
There are many disappointments in American history, the Dred
Scott decision is one of them. Today's decision by the DOJ was a hard punch in the gut. Yet, we have overcome other bad decisions as a country/democracy. We must be strong and keep on fighting for a better day. We Shall Overcome. Peace.
It would seems lawyers, officers of the court have allowed some of their brethren to game the system.
Frivolous arguments, twisting, parsing and stretching words to the point that all meaning is lost. All the while turning the terms of justice to be a status of haves or have nots.
I knew “no one is above the law” was crapola after Ford pardoned Nixon but now it is confirmed. The corruption we are about to see will be off the charts
Well, Eric, if we don't stand up and fight for legal rights we are complicit in the failure of our legal system--though we had no direct way to stop the fuckheads from corrupting our "supreme" court.
-I am so furious that Donald Trump is getting away with the multitude of crimes he's committed. I'm just burning up.
-I am furious at Merrick Garland for dragging his feet on this.
-I am furious at Joe Biden for not getting rid of Garland when it was clear he was not doing his job.

In Joe's defence, he believes in norms - that means the White House doesn't interfere with Justice. Unfortunately where Trump is taking us is not normal and we have to realize that "norms" have fucked us. Now we have to be as ruthless as they are.
It is harder to say it because it is true. There is no rule of law for the rich and powerful. He violated the 14th Amendment and our courts looked the other way.
Read Kagen's brutal dissent of the Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo (where SCOTUS threw out the Chevron doctrine) starting on Page 82 of https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/23pdf/22-451_7m58.pdf
This stuff doesn't get anywhere near enough press.
'Stop applying a decision where one should; “throw some
gratuitous criticisms into a couple of opinions”; issue a few
separate writings “question[ing the decision’s] premises”
(ante, at 30); give the whole process a few years . . . and
voila!—you have a justification for overruling the decision.'
There is no justice for people with money. It’s not hard to say. It’s really easy. They can get away with everything and they can cause others to be convicted and/or punished for things they don’t do. The USA is a shell. It’s people have proven their ignorance and the rich how they take advantage.
Yes. It appears the Trump and the gop sustained effort to discredit the justice system worked resulting the into DOJ paralysis. Who was prosecuted, lower their. Who escaped justice, those in power thereby confirming a two tier system.
How do we protect this democracy? You have more clout than we do...and Obama is a constitutional lawyer...you must be on red alert for what happens next.
I have a whole bunch of things that I'd like to say to former administrations about the failure to address Russia and the threats it posed to us. If we are talking failures.
There is a two tier justice system. Justice isn’t blind. The sexual predator was able to do the unimaginable to our country and half of this nation turned the other cheek.
Where is the sustained, strategic, well-funded, ground-up (law schools) top-down (judicial appointments at federal, state and local levels) visionary movement to counter the Federalist Society? Where have the democrats been since the 1980’s? Why are we not organizing this now?
This country is a catastrophe, Eric. And there’s not a damn thing anyone is doing to protect those of us who don’t want this shit. Democrats aren’t even pretending to give a damn about how We The People are supposed to survive.

You can stop now Eric. The smart among us saw the game you folks were running clearly--all along.

It's. Not. Possible.
