I recall a talk when the speaker addressing the global nightmare of the nuclear doctrine of assured mutual desruction... This is a situation so incomprehensible that one cannot simply try to sweep the floor clean of the problem, it requires creating a whole new floor.
Besides some morbid curiosity, I guess.
