Yes. I don’t know anything about the ostracods though! We have Triops which will probably be out soon, and also Streptocephalus which probably came over on military trucks.
also, it's awful to say it, but people around me are saying "I wonder if I will still have funding for my research" and I just want sci people to know you can still do a lot and learn a lot without any funding. there are animals where you live right now that need attention too. bioblitz your house.
do you mean, do science without funding? I have never had ANY funding, grants, or professional support besides occasional supportive emails, I just offer my services as a lab lackey so I can occasionally borrow microscopes or whatever. It's not so bad
Yeah, that's what I mean, that's what I do, too, and it's been my exp that people tend to dismiss it. Haven't had lab access for ages and miss it, wish I could get my own equipment.
i'm worried because i have no idea if i'll *have* a job soon. i'm on an ORAU fellowship beginning this January at the USDA, and i have no idea if the new admin will honor my contract. rumor has it that all GS-13+ are getting let go from all executive departments come 1/21.
