I agree! My point was that I don't think people *should* be supporting NYTimes, Wapo, and LATimes. I think they have big fundamental problems both in top down direction and with a lot of the staff. (typos chasing me again...)

Nahhh We don't give money to "news" organizations like NYT that have spent years both siding reality or playing access "journalism" which has helped us get to this point. Many better sources of news didn't pull that B.S.

There are many ways to do that while they don't benefit from it, if OpenAI, Google, Apple, etc is given a free pass to take other people's work in this society. I don't blame others for only give their money to those they see deserve it.

Or these guys can check with their local libraries. If they have a library card, you can read a lot of sites' articles for free with limited-timing access codes through the library.

To respond to comments: if you hate the NYT or other paywalled news orgs for whatever weird reason then you don't have to read their stories. But if you are reading them anyway but expect to do it for free then I don't know what to say.

I ended my subscription to Wapo and make a point of not reading their stories because I agree with you. (Which isn't to say I don't check the Gift Links/Gift Articles feed from time to time.)
