Uni of York MOOC Exploring everyday chemistry is good. RSC screen expts. Cambridge Chem challenge. Maybe join with another school to do the schools analyst competition.

As ex UCAS lead, would honestly advise them to contact a university tutor or two and ask. Could be local, could be one they might be interested in. They have access and outreach teams who love this kind of question.

Maybe also subject associations? If you live somewhere near specific industry?

You could try research groups at places like the space research centre at the University of Leicester. Spectroscopy of gases - atmospheric pollutants etc. my phd was looking the other way - spectroscopy of high ionisation state oxygen in deep space. Chemistry and space. What a synthesis.

Digging a little deeper, I realize you may not be in the US(?), so there may not be a Project Seed program near you. Sorry about that assumption! It’s a great program, so I do wonder if there is anything similar where you are.
