Don't just complain, write to HBO/Max. I did. I said that he was unwatchable, out of touch and offers nothing of value to the social discourse. I said that I had stopped watching him, which I had, years ago. They responded the next day, so they're reading the complaints. It can't hurt.

I'm a dem and I'm a fan of Bill Maher's. He's a radical centrist and while his rhetoric is harsh and sometimes hard to listen to, its core message resonates with a solid block of right-leaning liberals that are frustrated with losses to radical, unqualified & unhinged far-right extremists.
💯. The irony of everyone hating on Bill Maher is that if the left would listen to him they’d have a better chance at winning. Like it or not, the grievances they have with Bill are the reasons they’ve lost.

Amen. Many comedians use the technique of exaggerating isolated, individual flaws or examples of stupidity in a political or other group for comic effect, & it works. Bill Maher, unfortunately, has let this technique shape & distort his entire political philosophy. Not a pretty thing.
Exactly! Bill would pick a couple of bad instances of so-called "being woke" and blow it out of proportion, making it sound like the left was pushing it 24/7. He also misrepresents the word woke
He highlighted how right see it, so don't blame the messenger. unless we confront the narrative that left does not care about everyday issues and only cares about extremes, we will keep losing. If we refuse to understand/ hear how right sees things, we can not fix it.
I'm also somewhat confused by all of this with him. Who exactly is he scolding? Is it the job of the Left to police every fringe thing the Right amplifies? And because the Right says everything is bad ....we're supposed to go along and affirm bad information and data? See who can lie more?

Man's been a hack for a long time, he just enraptured a lot of liberals for having a documentary go mainstream that spoke out against religion at a time where that was mostly left in the shadows or in private conversation.
Bill Maher was correct when it comes to wokeness. Making it OK to call Israel's war on Hamas genocide, taking a wishy washy stance when it comes to those born male to play women's sports and child transgenderism cost the Dems. He was incorrect about who would win the election though.
