Matt Damon: “A teacher wants to teach.”
The son of a public school teacher, he defends teachers as heroes we should be grateful for rather than villains we should be threatening to punish — as pro-privatization forces would have us believe.

Besides, didn't that interviewer watch good will hunting? Of course Matt Damon is going to own her on this topic!
Thank you Betsy DeVos for your more than 30 year effort to de-educate our kids through your bought & paid for state and fed edu policies. I hope the ROI was to your satisfaction.
Which is exactly what Matt is talking about here. If you’re doing or for the money; you’re doing it for the wrong reasons.
Profit motive isn’t the incentive anyone wants in programs for social good Medicare, education public health legal systems.
That’s probably why maga attacks them.
When Project 2025 first crawled out of a hole, I read that it wanted to defund the Department of Education. That's dumbing down!
I used to be an actor and when I did it, it was cuz I loved the gigs. I didn't do it for the money. There WAS no money in it for me. Who is this reporter lady?
Talking to Matt Damon off-script is a reminder that he’s a teacher’s kid…
…& was only 12 credits from graduating Harvard…
…when he got a once-in-a-lifetime chance to star in Good Will Hunting…
…which he & his friend Ben Afflect wrote as an assigned project for English class!
Why do a job unless you love it/want to do it. Especially when you are paid so little. Teachers should be treasured and protected. We have to have teachers (especially good ones, especially in low income areas) in order to become a better society.
Very poor journalism.
“Maybe you’re a shitty cameraman, I don’t know.”
Lmao!
It baffles folks to think there are those of us with jobs who do so strictly for “incentive”.
Sometimes the incentive is just, we fucking love what we’re doing and that’s why we do it.
Also, a social mobility system that doesn’t work for the most impoverished isn’t one I’d be touting!

Thank You 😎👍
Watch this total tool of a human explain how it's great to teach kids how to assemble the metal hoods that go over grills.
So what's my son 'sposed to do in that world? Just die or something?
Sometimes I low-key hate AnCap bullsht.

And even if it was true, you'd figure that out before they'd earned tenure.
In a perfect world, these people would receive the golden paychecks and benefits packages, and the politicians would have to beg and borrow.
I love that part.
Could only be better if that Mic dropped.
Education is one of them.
Go.
I know because I’m Jordan’s mom. 🤪
Americans do not have God given rights.
If we did, they wouldn’t be so hard won and easily lost.
All we have, all we’ve EVER had, is a violent insistence on being treated like people.
These days, our insistence is being ignored.
Besides, if you're a shitty teacher, that's going to be figured out before you have tenure.
But I agree with your statement.
And remember, it's Trump who made it so teachers can't write off materials they provide to classes from their taxes.
That is some capitalist nonsense.
Look at Covid lockdowns. When we were getting paid but had to stay home, what did people want to do?
Most wanted to go back to work.
"Absolutely! Teachers are the backbone of our society, shaping the future with dedication and care. They deserve our gratitude, not criticism. Let's support and value their work, not undermine it."
He has been strong on this for years. He signed up to narrate a great documentary, BACKPACK FULL OF CASH, about the harm caused by the charter school movement. Without him, no movie.
Just point the camera, dumbass.🤣
