I have to figure out where I've seen that actor before. So I have to look at all their works, and then their background, who they're married to and their kids.
What I’d like to know is how people (like my partner) can watch a movie and have curiosity about a character…but DOESN’T pause it to investigate further. Just keeps watching in ignorance. Psycho.
All the time. I basically watch TV with the laptop in my lap. Drives my daughter mad. "Use your cellphone, use your cellphone". Sadly it's genetic. Sadly it is a team effort with search results to be shared.
Are you my five year old? Yesterday was a snow day and I busted out Wizard of Oz for the first time.
Dorothy opens the door to the color world and the immediate questions start rolling "Where is she Dad? What's the name of that place? Who are those little people?"
i do that with old movies and also with actors i like. curious to know what they are doing, if they are still alive, etc. rabbit holes are great but they sure can suck time out of your day, lol.
I don't usually do this for movies, but when my son and I are watching a series and there's an actor that we recognize from another show but cannot pinpoint exactly who it is, that's when we pause everything and start searching. It's so satisfying.
I just rewatched The Strain on Hulu because I didn't get around to finishing it when it aired. I was on Wikipedia & Reddit like I was trying to solve a cold case from 1975 trying to figure shit out that was explained a few episodes down the line.
Me with every marvel character I don’t know. Any historical drama. Hell science fiction movies will get me looking up random stuff. Europa report (slept on sci fi movie) sent me down a rabbit hole.
Characters, actors, director, writers… I’ve started movies, gone down the rabbit hole & suddenly I’m in the middle of a movie marathon hosted by “Adderall’s Day Off”
I actually find that spoilers enhance my enjoyment of media. Why? It gives me something to look forward to. I can know the what but I never know the *how* Also, I can quickly figure out if something is my vibe or not.
This habit does make it hard to finish movies tho.
Mostly to find out where I know a particular actor from. Doesn’t even have to be the lead, it could be the valet guy. Doesn’t have to be their biggest hit either. But where have me, myself and I seen them before. I won’t rest until I see that they were on Parker Lewis Can’t Lose or some ish
Always. It starts with. ‘I know that actor from somewhere’ and quickly progresses to ‘tell me more about that time period and the context’ until we reach ‘what’s the backstory here?’
Lol for me it's the actors. I want to know where else I might have seen them so I can get a decent idea of their range. It makes choosing future movies and shows a lot easier.

Bless the people who built that site!
A NORMAL MOVIE TAKES ALL DAY!!! If you do the work
I also have to rewind sometimes to make sure I'm getting it.

But I have with some foreign films
Oh, it's because they've had a bit part in 400+ things going back to 1982, and you need to know this!
Because I do the research!!! 😂😂😂
