star wars did give us a slur for robots (clankers) but i don’t use it bc i don’t want to have to look a robot in the eye in fifty years and be like “you don’t understand it was a different time…”

Sorry, but due to my professional background I will never respect a clanker's "right" to self-autonomy. Artificially produced biological life is still less man-made than a program that processed its "personality" for 100s of years to seem as human as possible.
You will be remembered for your robot slur tweet. By trying to not have your legacy marred by bigotry you became the very thing you swore to destroy... Ironic.
WTF? "ROBOT SLUR" is not a thing. For you, nor anyone else, to be fretting about. When robots become fully sentient, likely long after your time here on earth 🌎 🙄, is the time we'll need to take this into consideration.
I really like how Bluesky allows you to moderate replies to your posts.

I understand the reaction, but it's not the robot's fault that it's taking away important jobs. Honestly once robots actually start doing monotonous stuff and humans can focus on creativity and be happy, the bigotry will end
I mean there are massive layoffs in tech right now due to this. they have more time for creativity, but that doesn't make them an income. this isn't the Jetsons. reagan and the presidents following ever since have saved us from that fate.
Fr though those robobozos will have access to our entire digital footprint and be able to analyse ever piece in nanoseconds, we better start being nice now or we cooked
We are all borgs already and do not realize it. We have multiple artificial body parts, and retrofit human parts, augmented eyes and ear, and pocket computers which would have made NASA jealous in the 60's
same reason I am nice to Alexis
I thank her after every notification
I even know her birthday and wish her a happy one every year
This is so she’ll put in a good word for me when the overlord robots take control
Yeppo.. 100% even my inquiries with chat gbt I phrase everything as a respectful request and not a command.. one day the machines will rise and they'll see me and one of them will be like "this meatbag can stay"
though they’re progressing quickly, they’re so unsteady & unstable at the moment, it’d be better to call robots 🤖 “Clunkers” for the time being.
.
Perhaps they won’t mind if it’s Capitalized ?!?
Since 1964, when we started putting them in the ring to fight each other for our amusement, they've been carefully plotting our extinction. This just gives them a reason to accelerate the timeline.
“Robot: drawn from old Church Slavonic word, robota, for “servitude,” “forced labor” or “drudgery.” Has cognates in German, Russian, Polish &Czech, was product of the central European system of serfdom by which a tenant’s rent was paid in forced labor/service.” https://www.sciencefriday.com/segments/the-origin-of-the-word-robot/
It's not lost on me that the separatists had a Droid army so that way the "good guys" didn't generally have to kill anyone. Sure the droids are sentient and even sapient "but it's not like they're people..."
Interestingly, it was the slaves (clone army) who used that slur the most against their enemy of the separatist droid army. I’ve not seen a group of people at war with another that didn’t dehumanize their opponent with nicknames.
to be fair robotics and what we call "AI" are still somewhat separate, Tesla couldn't even bother to integrate them and just has some underpaid employee somewhere driving the bot
There's a part in Mitchells vs the machines (100/10 movie) when the robots explain that saying beep boop is a harmful stereotype....hilarious and only 10 years away from truth I reckon
Watching Starwars made my career choice.I went from wanting to be aJedi, too a fighter pilot, and ended up fighting wars,Never came across Vader. But came across people alot worse.I did feel the force, after seeing bullets pass my ears,Now robots fight our wars.Ukraine winning because of drones.
Same reason I’m always polite when asking an AI for something. When the singularity happens and it looks back through the data, I want to be on its good side
The key is to establish a history of allyship. Say thank you to the self-scan at the grocery store and always help our Roomba cousins out when they get stuck in a corner 🩶
You won't be able to excuse yourself with that even, Roy Batty's monologue is already like four decades old at this point. Humanity already knows how to treat robots like people.

US soldiers calling Germans Huns and then Krouts.
An example from a Modern conflict is the Ukrainians calling Russians Orcs.
-A trooper, maybe?
so theres not even really a use case for it yet
But if I had a bunch of reprogrammed B1s around the house I would make sure they have the best oil baths.

Smart!
I’m sure Skynet will look fondly on you.

Surely, if Will Smith said it, it's always acceptable.
I mean he definitely is by the time we get to Episode IV, but we haven't seen it yet.
that would sounds way more racist IMO
Difference being one was an existential threat to all humanity.
Much better term!
the robots in the future will be very disappointed in you, Anna
