i have to confess i just love raw dough. cookie dough, bread dough, doesn’t matter. pie crust, any batter, you name it. if i could eat portions of it that matched the portions of the final baked product without making myself sick i’d do it

I thought my mom's pie crust was some magic elaborate recipe and would eat so much of the dough. Found out it's just flour and crisco. Yet somehow the most delicious thing in existence
I loooove raw cookie dough and I'm totally not trying to be that person but... Raw flour can be so bad for you, like E. coli bad. I toast flour and make shortbread dough as a workaround lol
I loved my grandma’s biscuit dough. I’d hang out in the kitchen while she cut them and she’d let me have some of the scrap parts. The best biscuits have that same tart/sour/raw taste to them.
It would be interesting to know some intestinal chemistry as live yeasts (yogurt or just yeast tea) probiotics vs typical U.S. stomach/intestinal biology.
Carrying the right live biology inside - like chemical compisting - is optimumly healthy.
There’s a local bakery that sells “dough knots” that are technically food safe but feel underbaked and I just figured out why I crave them even more than the other stuff that said bakery makes.
“This eats like someone was making garlic pesto bread but I stole a bunch of the dough before it was ready” is, in hindsight, both beautiful and a whole thing for me.
It's a good idea to not eat raw dough in general, as cooking food kills bacteria. But yes, usually people think of raw egg as being the way you get salmonella, when in reality it's usually the flour.
As a kid I loved watching my mother and grandmother cook and bake. I always scraped the bowls with a spatula and ate the extra dough. When I started baking for myself, I made extra batter & dough to allow for raw consumption
when i was flipping my half-baked air fryer cinnamon rolls this morning, the underdone side did call out to me. what if we could have the forbidden cinnamon rolls
I bake a great loaf of sourdough bread, every week. You come on over to Austin, and I'll make enough extra dough so you can chaw right down to your heart's content.
My grandma loved rolling the soft crumb of bread into little balls, just pinching them out of slices and eating them. Not the same thing but kind of adjacent.
sometimes when i am feeling decadent i will nuke some cookie dough and make hot cookie sludge. this makes the portion larger and retains the gooey goodness, plus melts the chocolate chips. great at 2am when god can't see you
i’ve got some bread dough rising in the other room and my mouth is literally watering at the idea of all that delicious raw dough just steps away…god grant me the courage
Any time I make cinnamon rolls from scratch I feel like I should stop the recipe at the part where I roll it into a big cinnamon dough log and just eat it like a 2-foot hoagie. I always eat the end pieces at least
When I was 6 and my cousin was 8 we went into my aunt’s pantry, where she had sweet roll dough rising, and ate a good portion of it. We not only got into big trouble, but pretty sick as well.
Interesting. I have never heard of a love for raw dough. I am intrigued but not tempted. I do love a mashed potato on toast sandwich that my hubby thinks I am crazy for eating.
I made some faux cookie dough bites the other night that don’t have eggs, flour, or butter. They are made with chickpeas, almond butter, oats, etc. and have the flavor and texture of raw cookie dough. It’s insane!
FWIW, I’m a carnivore but try to consume a lot of protein and fiber. So I will still eat cookie dough when I make cookies, but it’s nice to have this substitute that tastes good and is healthy.

Raw dough is risky.
It’s not the flour.
It’s the eggs.
Salmonella is carried by healthy chickens and found in raw eggs.
Cookie recipes say “makes 3 dozen” but I’m lucky to get 10 baked by the end of things 😂☺️
Other than that I'm
one that loved all those things as a kid helping mom bake.

Same here. Since I was a kid…
and eating scraps of dough
eat the cookie!
