Education WAS part of the old HHS (then called Health, Education and Welfare) but was reorganized under the President’s old authority to reorganize subject to legislative veto. Congress subsequently revoked that authority and the Supreme Court later declared legislative vetoes unconstitutional.

This is a total cluster. I have an SBA loan. IMPOSSIBLE organization to deal with. They're online interface is a nightmare. Student loan management on the other hand is super easy to deal with. I know because my daughter has current student loans and the interface is super easy.
