Academics & others need to understand a few things.

I) First, fascism is not inevitable.
Research on autocratic movements show that only about 3,5% of the population need to resist to stop them.
Fascism thrives on the silence of the friends.
That why visible resistance matters.

In addition to going through the website, I strongly encourage people to read the letter from Harvard's President, Dr. Garber.
We need more scientific institutions to show this level of courage, no matter the risk. In fact, we need *all* institutions to stand up*.

I feel recharged and ready to resume pushing back against fascism. π©΅ππ©·ππ©΅
Fear, demotivation, nihilism are all tools of fascism; they use it as a form of repression.
Lots of fascism is myth-making and blustering about their strength and inevitability; but their emperor has no clothes and all these apparatchiks are mostly loudmouthed losers and weaklings
The only way heβs being stopped is by the military and guard units in a violent coup.
We have a history of guns, political violence and civil war.
We are the worldβs barbarians.
Time to bring them into the resistence
Higher prices or even job loss wonβt do it. Itβs the things we take for granted.
Most countries who have experienced fascism, never had the liberties and freedoms weβve always enjoyed.

Too much power is given to fascism by "obeying in advance", by doing things you are not forced to do, but out of anticipatory fear
It is simple, as long as they do not force you to do it, don't. You still have rights

Fascists scapegoat & attack the marginalized, the soft targets, the weakest links of a group; the few they can make an example of because they enjoy less solidarity in the public
Defend hard and early those groups, together, because eventually they come for you too

Science is a myth buster, a tool for illumination and accountability.
Fascism is a movement based on myth-making; on subverting reality perception, destroying accountability and preventing people to learn the truth.

Fascist states seek to exploit any opening you give them to mobilize the state or the public against you:
Unpaid parking tickets? An unhinged public rant from the past?
They want to hang you on that. Make yourself a harder target by being a good citizen.
5/
Fascists seek to break the bond between citizens, to insert the state into all conversations, relationships and thoughts.
Don't let them. Build your inner circle of people you love and trust and cultivate your social network outside of fascists reach.
6/
Fascists constantly rewrite the past to justify the atrocities of the day.
One simple private way to resist is to remember and stay human. Don't accept new narratives of the past and excuses for dehumanization, gulags, torture, extinction.
