Chandra, the space-based observatory that brings us incredible x-ray images of the most extreme environments in the cosmos, is at risk of cancellation. It’ll be a huge loss to astronomy if the mission ends prematurely for budget reasons. Go to https://www.savechandra.org/ to find out how to help #SaveChandra

Because "budget" is just relative to how much they desire to fund it.
I guess we don't need X-ray images anymore? Is it something that James Webb can do better?
For all I know is that JW uses infrared only.
Dr. Chandra : You deserve it.
"Gee, these bottom waters are euxinic and hypersaline. Pretty extreme, right?"
"I don't know about that, it's not like there's even any gamma flux."
We live in a geographic fucking fortress with vast oceans to the east and west and allies to the north and south. “Defense” is pure doublespeak.
(Not attacking you, as I realize it’s universally called that. Just pisses me off.)
(And yes, it is absolutely ridiculous)
Sad to see this!
Now all you have left to do, is visualize that. HOPE THAT HELPS! ;)
