It amuses me that a skeuomorphic* design such as that is still the save icon on current software. I've kept a 3½ floppy disk somewhere to show #4 daughter when she inevitably asks me: "what's that ... and why?"

* No, I didn't know either ... but I'm glad I looked it up, because now I do!
