If 25% of UK new car sales are now EVs, what impact does that have on gas/forecourts here? Are there closures or just reduced volumes/margins?

Despite growing sales, still only 4% of cars on the road are BEV. UK road fuel sales fell by 0.7% last year. There were once ~40,000 UK petrol stations, but now only ~8,500. This change happened well before EVs, and continues slowly now. Impact of EVs is almost undetectable yet.

On the upside for that growing 4% and after the ICE ban, there will be material change soonish, as newer cars do more miles.

Yes I’d expect it will happen ‘gradually, then suddenly’. I believe improved fuel efficiency is being mostly offset by trend to larger SUV type vehicles in ICE sector.
