my kids laugh about this constantly cause they don’t use their iPads enough to keep up a daily streak, they’ll come back to them with messages like “this doesn’t seem to be working, I’ll stop bothering you”. It takes like 3 days to get to the mean messages then we quit for weeks lol
I love when apps use manipulation tactics (emails, notifications) that, instead of me making me want to use them more, make me uninstall the app immediately
I get great satisfaction in NOT paying for using it , but keeping up my streak. An outlet for some passive aggressiveness towards corporate culture stuff…
Duolingo ads are like: hey, want us to stop punching you in the face with these ads? Give us money. No we won’t stop punching your face until you give us money
I unfortunately had to give up Duolingo when they posted some weird shit making fun of Amber Heard’s abuse on the company account on TikTok. It made me feel weird to be guilted by an app that supported beating women ://
Once, when i canceled my subscription to my local newspaper, they called me repeatedly for an entire month to try and get me to reconsider. I remember one call in particular was just them playing sad breakup music at me that said something along the lines of "I miss you please come back"
