I’ve been up 4 going back to the 80s.

Not if you’re my 6’7” spouse

4 on long rides reading a book.
1 on everyday commuting.

That is if you want the most people to sit next to you.

3 blocks the most.

1 minimizes people sitting next to you.

4 or 1 only, everything else is for tourists

Confidently walking onto an empty subway car and plopping myself down on Seat 2, as one does.

5, side-saddle so you’re not hitting the legs of the person in 3

4, especially if you’re going over the bridge and facing the correct way

Will take #1 in a pinch
