Cars are a very exclusionary form of transportation. Not everyone can drive due to their age, wealth, or medical status, and they make public spaces unpleasant and potentially dangerous for people outside of them. Some people need them but even more cannot use them.

As you can see in the pictures, a straight drag race strip for cars, which was previously inaccessible to bikes and pedestrians, will be turned into a linear park. Access to vaster green space is improved. That being said, parallel streets on the edges of the park will remain accessible to cars.

Are you actually familiar with the situation? Have you been there, had activities there? For which people does it improve things? I would like to move this discussion to some *measurable* specifics. Pictures of happy green parks are great. But there's more to living.

(“Bikes and pedestrians” includes wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and adapted bikes. Similarly, ambulances can make better use of the space.)
