Many Canadians come to Cape Cod for vacations. There are a lot of common roots, genealogically speaking, that are shared between Cape Cod and the Atlantic provinces. Then there’s the Halifax-Boston connection.

Where my folks live in southwest Florida, a significant portion of short and long-term visitors come from Canada. That includes a lot of home ownership, too. There's potential to impact the regular tourism number as well as dragging down real estate prices.

Except for periods when the Canadian dollar was really low, my family would also regularly drive from Toronto to Buffalo to go to the outlet mall and eat at Cracker Barrel or Applebee's. Last Feb, my sister and mom filled a car with stuff from Target, Primark and Costco for my nephew.

All of that tourism and additional spending is now under long-term threat because of an unnecessary trade war. There's also the large number of Canadians studying at US universities; working in the US under TN, H1B, O1 and L1 visas; as well as the long history of diplomacy between the two countries.
