The scary thing about this is that NHS England is supposed to be an arms-length body. In theory this is not a decision made directly by government. Once NHSE is abolished, trans healthcare policy will be entirely under the remit of DHSC and whichever history graduate they have as Secretary of State.

Govts attempted to politicise NHSE, but it wasn't enough & as NHSE became so bloated & self-obssessed they've ditched it.
However, devolved powers with direct control, aren't as bad as England is.

Not quite the same but last summer online NHS guidance on prescribing puberty blockers to intersex teens, when they alarmingly veer off into an unexpected puberty, almost exactly matched the reasons trans youth need it. Not there now. Unfortunately I (unlike you) didn’t screenshot the original.

Interesting because when I asked to change my title and name, before getting a new NHS number, they put Mx and not Mrs. I'd assumed it wasn't possible to change to Mrs without a new NHS number. So that was actually my main reason at the time to get a new NHS record.

Yes absolutely. The guidance explaining the process to ensure no records were lost in transfer and telling GPs there was no requirement for any set level of transition + could happen at any time + patients were *entitled* to this was so valuable.

GPs don't get taught about this, at least I wasn't and I don't think a lot has changed. To be fair, GPs don't get directly taught about a lot of things that are important, but we learn a lot from patients as long as we are prepared to listen and ask with an open mind.
