Some ideas:
- apply to city advisory boards: library, parks, etc.
- youth serving organizations make a big impact: Girl Scouts welcomes trans girls and NB kids, for instance.
- your local community college may need GED, citizenship or ESL tutors

Try Googling mutual aid groups, racial justice groups, environmental justice groups, immigrants rights groups, abolitionist groups, bail funds, abortion funds, etc - they may or may not be explicitly socialist, but may still be aligned.

It would involve A LOT of logistics work. First learning what skills and interests the person who wants to connect has, figuring out if those are suited to the effort/org/formation, then the actual connection, then someone from the org/effort being available to orient the new person etc etc etc...

So much this. XR tried to solve it by creating a "self-organising system" that could work at different levels while distributing responsibility, but it comes with significant administrative burden. Lots of people want to support, not many are willing (or don't feel empowered?) to coordinate.
