At the end of the day, it's just deeply sad. That arc from 04-07 when he was just starting, all his music sounding so fresh, new. If you told me then how it all would've turned out no way I'd believe you.
It seems like he has nobody who cares enough about him to help him. Maybe that’s because he rejected them, and this is what he wants, but it makes me sad, regardless.
Legitimately(and I'm saying this as someone who's had to go inpatient against my will before. I know it's horrible, but chemotherapy is also horrible till it's necessary), "unmedicated, bipolar, manic, and spiraling" is one of those situations where "inpatient till stable" is the least bad option
Kanye can't and won't admit that he's sick and needs help. And eventually that only leads one of two places, and he's still probably too rich to get put in jail. At some point you have to want to get better enough to admit you can't do it on willpower.
There is a good timeline where Al Gore asked for a recount and won. In that timeline Kanye listened to his therapist and never stopped taking his meds. In that timeline Donald Trump got a compound fracture of the right leg while playing golf, lost the leg, and died of diabetes.
It just seems really sad that because of the money and fame, there was no one that could get him the help he needs. He just seems unmoored and flailing about, but there's nothing to stop him from being the dinosaur in the tar pit. It can do a lot of harm as it sinks.
I wont even ask what this man has done now, but I will ask where is his father and his people on both sides of his family? When you get that far removed from your people and culture to approximate to what you idolize one have to wonder, where is Dr. West's people at? Smh.
He never really had a father and his mother died in 2007. While I am in no way making excuses for his behavior, he was a kid who only had his mother, and her loss, at the same time his mental illness was getting worse, really spun him. He'd always been impulsive and arrogant, but he got really lost.
And you're also (strategically) removed from your people.
We really underestimate the agency people have and can demonstrate when they aren't able to bring their subconscious drives to conscious awareness (which is common in trauma survivors and those dealing with depression)
It's been that time since the 1930s, but isn't going to happen for famous men. Hell, look at Mel Gibson. Money and fame that can still make money and nothing it soo much to keep it going.
Definitely. Psychiatry has a long history of this kind of abusive misuse and gendered oppression (and pathologizing of difference that privileged White men find confronting/inconvenient). Psychiatry can also be liberatory but this isn't it and psychiatry and the state have a long difficult history.
It hurts to see how depraved the situation has gotten. No hell hot enough for all the sycophants and hangers-on happy to keep the party going and unwilling to intercede while he spirals toward the inevitable.

Once you start flying swastikas, I am done with you.
