I'm one you heard from, an activist by passion, not by actually doing anything other than posting detailed, sometimes explanatory, crusading threads here &, earlier, on TwiX.
I'm also a longtime Durbin fan. But he should've ceded to Whitehouse. Schumer should've, and likely could've, persuaded him.
Well the people wanted younger leadership but the Democratic seniors don't listen we asked for Nancy to resign and she won't we asked for Chuck Schumer to resign and he won't we wanted AOC and they put in Jerry who has cancer so here we are
The Democratic Party will remain feckless if they continue to marginalize true fighters. The Durbans, Schumers, Coons, et al are institutional hacks who cannot meet the moment. Read the room!
Oh, NO! Durbin is a jelly fish!!! WTAF? These self-congratulatory old white men no longer live in the real world. They MUST GO! Schumer and Durbin are at the top of the vote them OUT list!! Jon Ossoff is just one younger Dem who would have made a fine minority leader on the committee.
Dems commit suicide with this garbage. Get rid of the old guys, esp Durbin with his genteel refusal to act. Get rid of Schumer, who excels at reading text into the lectern.
Who would vote for a party that features these guys? Who?
You would think having lost to Trump twice would be their wake up call to embrace change and let the younger generation take over. But it seems like they just want to halt any progress just to remain in power.
Who on earth is surprised by this? No one should be. The Democrats have an old-person problem. They continue to provide fuel to the need for TERM LIMITS.
Dems have become so weak and pathetic. I'm an independent after being a Republican for 30 years. But I vote for the Candidate, not the party. But this is pathetic. Dems need to do whatever they can to frustrate Trump's agenda.
Chuck’s got to go too. please everyone call your Senators, leave a message that this pisses you off and you don’t plan to donate, campaign for, or vote for any Dem until they gear up.
The country is long overdue for an upper age limit on those who serve in elected office. About 70 or 72 years seems to be in the ballpark . . . And term limits would help, too.
Just an observation, but even the College of Cardinals (no one’s idea of a progressive organization) doesn’t allow Cardinals over 80 to vote for a new Pope..
Yep. Dick Durbin is my senator. He’s an affable guy and his positions are good, but he’s way too milquetoast for the present age. Whitehouse brings the fire.
The dems have duped us like never before. This isn’t the only bad appointment. Remember these guys? No wonder no one takes us seriously anymore. What were they thinking??? We should be really mad but we’re not allowed to be.
He has been my senator basically since I started voting in New York and this feckless weak MFCKER keeps getting the support from our party. He is a disgrace. See him hanging out in the Hamptons with the Kushner that’s his priority.
Just like the vote in House Oversight for Gerry McConnell (not sure I have his name right, which is the problem) over AOC. The election is one thing but promotions of these tepid Dems are so disheartening.
The Senate needs some purging to make room for Gen X and younger. It’s not about Durbin being a vote in the Senate, it’s about getting him out of leadership. Same for Schumer.
She was good for sure all the way up to 2020. That election showed that we needed younger more tuned in folks. Dems didn’t, we get Trump 2.0 because of the Olds. I had a front row to the first term and watched these past 4 years wasted on changing nothing. Like when Big Auto lost to Japan. Same.
I agree completely. I am disgusted that Pelosi advocated against @aoc.bsky.social to chair the House Oversight Committee. We absolutely need the younger leaders in charge and AOC has shown her competence on the House floor.
"...past 4 years changing nothing?" Are you referring to Pelosi, the Democratic Party, or the Biden Administration? In either event, I guess you care nothing about the undeniable legislative wins since 2020, the added judicial diversity, and strengthened rules for labor.
Those wins are what I call ‘what have you done for me lately’ with the younger generations and the 6th grade level of comprehension. They don’t account for any of the new rules but it’s MMA now not badminton. The olds for sure are missing it and not challenging for us. That is why turnout was down.

Dems are gonna get steamrolled by Trump.
Dems still believe in playing nice and by the rules.
You can’t going up against MAGA. There is no honor in losing.
Who would vote for a party that features these guys? Who?
Increasingly, not me.
Party of senile seniority.
Just sayin’
Clearly, you know nothing about her career, and you slept through Trump's first term.
If we could only clone Pelosi!
But, yeah, old people.
But, you do you and add to the pile heap of ageist comments.
