Even though I'm not religious, Pope Francis was a good man who helped change some of the Church's policies to help better everyone.

Francis, the first Latin American Pope, died at 88 on Easter Sunday. After decades of conservative leadership, Pope Francis tried to reset the course of the Roman Catholic Church, emphasizing inclusion and care for the marginalized over doctrinal purity. May he rest in peace and glory

BREAKING: The U.S. is on the verge of abandoning peace talks in Ukraine, the National Intelligence Council concludes that there is no Tren de Aragua invasion of the U.S., and a U.S. citizen detained is released. All the news you missed: open.substack.com/pub/aaronpar...

Don't agree with the partial veto power at all, it's an abuse of power regardless of which political party is in power. With that said, it is fun to see Republicans get upset when a Democrat does the same thing they did. apnews.com/article/wisc...

So I called Rep. Van Orden's office to share my concerns and disapproval of the man mistakenly sent to El Salvador and the possibility of sending U.S citizens to foreign prisons. Besides claiming the man is a MA-13 gang member, he said he will relay the message to Van Orden.

Trump’s announcement that he will pause his tariffs for 90 days is about as confidence-building as a notorious cheater announcing that he will pause his sex affairs for 90 days.

What kind of demented asshole tariffs the entire world and then takes it back at the last minute for those who were willing to get punished without retaliation? www.nbcnews.com/business/eco...

After all this POTUS-engineered market volatility, it will be very, very interesting to see who made and lost money over these past few days.

Here’s how to stay in the fight: 📱 Use the 5 Calls app or Resist Bot to contact your elected officials daily. 🎤 Demand town halls. Show up at their public appearances. 🚫 Boycott evil corporations. 🗣️ Talk to your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors. 🌳 Build community power. #FiftyFiftyOne

The GOP spent approximately $1B on voter suppression over the past year. The national security adviser is apparently dishing in multiple unsecured group chats. The president gutted a roaring economy with nonsensical tariffs. So discussions of what might come next are already kicking around.

BREAKING: European Union Slaps 25% Tariffs On United States In Retaliation. Only Zimbabwe and Penguin Island are willing to negotiate with Trump as Europe and China fight back. open.substack.com/pub/aaronpar...

The White House just put out a statement threatening to veto this bill if it reaches Trump's desk. punchbowl.news/sap-s-1272/

Buckle up.

Biggest self-own ever to go from that to whatever this is today.

Senator Adam Schiff: "These tax cuts aren't free...Working Americans are going to see their costs skyrocket, they're going to see their retirement accounts plummet, and their Social Security and Medicaid ripped apart to give more money to billionaires." Unfortunately so.

Nothing wakes people up like realizing that an expensive console is going to be even more expensive. Just wait for what they'll charge for GTA6.

Oh, fantastic—Rubio says ‘economies aren’t crashing, markets are crashing.’ What a relief!

77 million people voted for this, I say let them suffer

I love that all these fkfaces lost a lot of money today. 🍿

So the economy is in freefall due to #trumptariffs. So much to be the party of fiscal responsibility.

The entire permanent staff of the Division of Environmental Health Science and Practice was laid off. This division addresses issues such as asthma and air pollution, climate change and health, childhood lead poisoning, and cancer clusters.

[Switch 2] Nintendo is delaying pre-orders in the US due to the recently announced tariffs. The US administration is placing tariffs on China (34%), Vietnam (46%), and Cambodia (49%), among others. These are all countries where Nintendo manufactures their hardware. 🐦 original post

Remember, gamers voting for Trump.

So Trump posted this in 2014, wonder if he still believes this?

US stocks have opened sharply lower after China retaliated against the US for President Donald Trump’s tariffs in a tit-for-tat that escalates a global trade war. The Dow fell 1,000 points at opening, or 2.5%, and the broader S&P 500 was 2.6% lower.

Well, JPMorgan’s chief economist Bruce Kasman certainly sounds cheery.

Why is Howard Lutnick always creeping around in the background wherever Donald Trump goes? Is he his handler? Lover? It's so weird.

The value of the U.S. dollar has fallen by −1.55% in the past 24 hours. MaKE aMERiCA GrEAt AgAiN. 🙄

Things are about to get real in Chief Judge Boasberg's courtroom. The issue: whether the court will find US officials violated court orders by flying 'Alien Enemies Act' detainees to El Salvador. Will DOJ be pressed on how many times they have forced a defendant to comply with a verbal TRO?

Way to go LaCrosse!

I'm starting to think that Donald Trump is dumb enough to believe "The Great Depression" was a good thing that he wants to emulate.

Senator Bernie Sanders is going off on the Senate floor: "Today, it is 31 days and counting with absolutely no humanitarian aid getting into Gaza...That is a clear violation of the Geneva Convention, the Foreign Assistance Act, and basic human decency. It is a war crime! You don't starve children!"

Canada is ready to lead.

Even taking Trump at face value (I know, I know), one problem with his unpredictable tariff policy—including the new talk of "negotiation"—is that it's... unpredictable. "Unpredictable" is not how you get investment from most businesses, especially those with high capex like manufacturing.

Lemme lay down a marker: The chance of a 2025 recession have risen enormously. (And pointlessly.)

Just thought I would remind people of what Trump promised.
