Man the thing about Ko-Fi and Patreon and stuff is like, for the price of a gacha pull per month, you can be part of the reason why someone you believe in gets to pursue what they actually want to do.
Through the power of many you can help ppl you like chase their dreams for a gacha pull per month.

Their most popular is actually the 3$ tier
I think despite our guilt of burdening ppl, we should also allow room for them to exercise generosity towards us. Some people wanna give higher amts out of joy. Let them!
Still trying to figure out the right incentives to tip that over.
I'm not sure what entices people to do it. My lowest tier is $5 CAD a month which really like OP mentioned is the cost of a loot box people spend in games.
Tiers might do better, but I'm not really sure what to offer for them.
And I'm wary of getting into a situation where creating exclusive stuff for tiers kills my time to do my primary creating.
Popular in Japan.
In video game terms it’s kinda like a loot box.
"Support ten creator this month and get 11 pull in our game ! SSR pull garanteed this december !"
Don't give capitalists any ideas. They will do it!
(This of course is meant as a joke, but the sentiment isn't entirely wrong)
(No, but you're right, they would make it shit)
I really want to start supporting people on Patreon, but I need to think of another analogy like this.
That way I'd at least be less of a burden on each person's livelihood.
And heck, gacha are up to 300 yen in some places here, my lowest tier is even less than that! ^_^
(that’s not exactly how the fees scale but the difference is drastic)
I just struggle to feel worth $3 of anyone's time.
