I hope someone is tallying the waste caused by cutting off so much crucial research mid-course, when much of the cost is already sunk. So-called DOGE's actions against research are wanton waste. The dollar amount must be extraordinary.

Come to think of it, I'm just talking about a basic tally of the cost of the studies, assuming they provide valuable information at their conclusion. If we add in the opportunity cost of not having treatments and cures sooner, the calculation balloons exponentially.

This NIH ruling is dangerous. EU and UK funding agencies must call for proposals for RNA vaccine research to attract the best scientists to apply, including our colleagues in the U.S. whose work is no longer safe in their home country.

I’m nobody important, but last week I emailed my state representative and state senator to suggest Massachusetts might be interested in funding science and health research. One of them replied and said there are active discussions about it (others also suggested it)

I recall the woman doctor/scientist who was in on the invention saying, when asked by Biden if it could be used to prevent or cure AIDs and she said yes, she could do it.

Does it really make sense to administer these vaccinations at the same time, even though the flu wave won't hit us before the end of December, but Covid keeps coming back all year round, so vaccination with the adapted vaccine as early as possible makes a lot of sense?

One problem could be that covid isn't confined to the same few months in winter like the flu but can arise throughout the year with new variants and waning immunity. To vaccinate against covid in October could be perfect but far too early for flu, like this season in ctrl europe.

I fear all this research about medical breakthroughs is for a world which doesn't exist anymore because we're heading into the dark ages with speed of light. It's much more convenient for fascists letting disabled and chronically ill people simply die than spending money for treatment.
