Seems pretty low compared to the good effects. I’ve lost 70 pds in the last year. Blood pressure down, A1C is 4.5, feel better and stronger at 57 than I did at 37.

I have been on it for almost a year and the same, I have lost 82.5 pounds and my A1C is at 5.4 and hopefully will get lower. I get blood work every 3 months and see the Dr the same every 3 months.

In the past 18 months on Ozempic, I've lost 150lbs, brought my A1C to 5.7 (T2 Diabetic) & lowered my cholesterol to completely normal levels. I'm grateful for it.

Where’s the data for avoided heart attacks and obesity-related Emergency Visits due to improved health? This would be most interesting to see updated. The insurance companies should likely be paying their members to take these drugs. But that may make too much sense.

So 4375 hospitalizations over 2 years for about 3 million users? That sounds pretty safe compared to the number of hospitalisations otherwise occurring from T2D and obesity-related cardio-vascular and other problems? Or is that your point? [couldn't access the full-text]

And bear in mind that (this is staggering, but numbers from https://cdc.gov) US adults (18-64) ED attendance rate is around 21% per year, and admission to hospital is 5% per year. So the 5M users will have 1M ED visits, and 250k admissions. Of the Ozempic user admissions, about 1 in 60 is due to Ozempic.

That would be a projected .00043 percent of patients hospitalized via ER a year. Not sure if that is a good number. But I would say the vast majority are not going to the ER for problems.

Yesterday, my friend told me that she ended up in the ER. The injections came in the mail before the instructions. She took a whole vial at 1 time that was supposed to be a months worth. 🙄 She thought she was going to die.

It's not possible to argue from adverse consequences. You cannot construct "the number of pathologies prevented," though the lay media regularly does it. Disorders are not caused or prevented by single variables.

For the ordinary person in the comments, what does this data translate to in plain English? Is semaglutide safe for diabetics who are aware of their blood glucose levels?
Do people who are using the drug for cosmetic purposes need to monitor their blood sugar?

The patients on Ozempic for diabetes who I know do their blood sugars daily and A1Cs every three months. I don't know anyone right now on Wegovy. The doses are different for diabetes & weight loss. I'm sure if they're under an MD's supervision, they'll have their A1C done regularly w/both drugs.

I'm curious to know if these people were taking Ozempic under a doctor's supervision. Did they get the medication from a US pharmacy? I speak to several patients who started with a low dose by their doctors, then the dose was slowly increased. They're doing great.

Usually people experience these side effects when they continue to eat unhealthy food & expect the medication to do all the work.

You have to adjust the way you eat. It’s time consuming but quite worth it.

I’d be interested in the data showing how many lives GLP1s are saving long term. From diabetes, inflammation related diseases like cancer, or heart disease, etc. I’d more or less think that adverse
could be caregivers not fully prepping patients with dietary needs and requirements etc.
