as long as the middle donut is a distinct and more flavorful variety than the outer "bread" donuts, that's at least as much if not more so a sandwich than England's "toast sandwich"

I’m a Brit. (Irish one) but please tell me. Life is ok here so long as you don’t mention; USA, Russia, Israel, Mexico, AI, X, (in happier times twitter) immigration etc. I could go on, but I live in East London amongst senior citizens mostly, but reared in more innocent times.
Once I found out that French fries between two pieces of bread had a name (chip butty) I could no longer point and laugh at the beans on toast. Beans at least have fiber and protein.
Suggesting that a recipe from over a century and a half ago, that was created to be easy to digest for someone who wasn't well, is relevant to now is a tad foolish.

Here I was thinking the "is a hotdog a sandwich" debate set the bar.

Okay first, rude, and second doesn't adding meat make it something other than a toast sandwich? Or is a Big Mac a toast sandwich?
