this is not an informed opinion in any way but I kind of have this suspicion that the reason they are killing congestion pricing is because they know it will work and be popular and will lead to demand for restrictions on cars in cities

As a New Yorker, one of the problems I have with the current plan is that cars are charged on weekends. There is no “congestion” on the streets of NYC on weekends.
I don’t really believe that the Democrats have it together that much. It’s more likely for the reason stated—they’re scared of losing November races in the suburbs. It’s just like them to chase right wing votes they have no hope of getting in order to stay in power. But gotta get that lobby $!
Democratic politicians in the country exist to explain to Americans why we can’t have any of the social goods and services routinely available in other wealthy countries because we have a moral imperative to spend our unmatched wealth committing genocide
it’s all good though cause at least Biden isn’t violating our deepest and most urgent moral obligation as a nation, which is to provide sanctuary to those fleeing war, persecution, disaster or poverty like Trump was trying to, right?
I am represented by democrats at every single level of govt and every single one of them is currently taking the obviously and unforgivably wrong position on such fundamental issues as: should we fight climate change or not, should we do genocide or not, and should we grant asylum or not
And yet if we don't vote for them things will get even worse. They keep telling us Democracy is at stake, but a 2-party system where you have to vote for one side no matter how much they suck because the other side sucks so much more is *not* a Democracy. It's a fucking escape room.
Got a D mayor in a blood red state & everyone is on him about violent crime & he presented a plan AND told the crowd to show up like this at the State house - they’re the ones passed permitless carry but yeah why so difficult to do the clearly right thing

It will hurt NYers.
Would it be a popular policy? No, don't be daft. Of course it wouldn't.
