NPR casting Trump as a normal president and normal Republican about to start a normal second term for a Republican president is a bad sign.
All those previous Republicans were reelected right after their first term, and hadn’t conspired to overthrow the Constitution.
The past isn’t precedent here.

The lessons of history about second-term presidents and second-term Republicans in particular are not just the stuff of textbooks. They can offer guidance and perhaps even temper expectations.

Last time they were caught off guard with winning. They’ve spent 4 yrs since then preparing
It won’t work.
NPR gets about 1-2% from the feds. Unless they're worried about a weaponized IRS revoking their tax-exempt status, which is...a legit concern.
It's just so very wrong
But it might operate differently.
Yeah.

Outstanding reporting by https://pen.org/profile/nadia-reiman/ on the nuts and bolts of current deportation capabilities. Cornered the right sources, asked the right questions, brought back ~~chillingly chilling~~ just-the-facts answers.
Propaganda for
Republicans.
I gave up on that GOP propaganda years ago.
Many Institutions will be dismantled:
Dept of Ed, Consumer protections, First Amendment, Women's Rights, Libraries, Climate Protections including Weather monitoring, Health Protections, Veteran Protections, etc...
A lot of liberal and centrist media keeps searching for the thing that lets them go "I can see myself acting this way if I were in their situation," when it's just different values.
we need to redefine “the economy” to what they are thinking it is
They got called on it.
They reported on getting called out.
They continue to do it.

NPR is part of the "reality-based" world and is expecting the same...
Which will never come.
I couldn’t stop this. But I don’t have to pretend that it’s something it isn’t.

I wrote them a scathing letter, but unfortunately it didn’t make the article. 😢😂
We need new media. Full stop.
If anything, it'll mark them as an easy target.
We know by now they don’t give a shit about public good. They see our empathy as weakness. They steal credit for our good ideas & blame us for their failures. We owe them nothing.
We stand firm.
They've given up.
I've got no idea what to do. None at all.
it was poor handling of a few important issues (such as questionable internal housekeeping) but mostly this kind of stuff.

Then again, it's incredibly common for people to refuse to let go of the status quo ante.
We saw that recently with the pandemic.
