The cultish devotion is beyond logic and evidence. Anything can be justified, anything supported.
But this time the economic problems are clearly related to choices the president made: attacking rule of law, undercutting confidence, and most directly, tariffs on allies.

One that comes to mind is Fed Chair Volcker causing the early 1980s recession. But that had a defensible reason—to counter inflation that was decently higher than what the US saw in the 2020s—while Trump's actions are indefensible.
